Our poker room runs on its own rhythm, so it deserves separate mention. We spread live Texas Hold’em on up to three tables, with seating for as many as 11 players at each table. Games start at 6:00 p.m. every day. Seats can fill, especially in the evening, so calling ahead usually works out better than walking in and waiting.

We keep fairly consistent opening hours, with a slightly longer window on weekend nights. From Sunday through Thursday we open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 2:00 a.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, closing moves back to 3:00 a.m.

How the Property Got Here
The story of the property starts in 1999, when it opened as OLG Casino Sault Ste. Marie. At that point it was the first full-service casino in the area and operated fully under the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation structure. For close to twenty years, that framework shaped how the casino ran, from day-to-day procedures to overall oversight.
In 2017, a major transition took place. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited took over the site as part of a larger move into Ontario, in a package that also included operations in Innisfil, Sarnia, and Wasaga Beach. With the change in ownership came a new name: Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie. Branding, signage and operating standards shifted to align with the broader Gateway network.
Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited keeps its head office in Burnaby, British Columbia, and manages properties across BC, Alberta, and Ontario. Through the transition, the Sault Ste. Marie casino stayed rooted at 30 Bay St. The physical footprint did not move, and the regulatory base set by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation Act, 1999 remained in place.
So the address stayed the same, and the provincial oversight stayed the same. What changed was who runs the day-to-day operations, the systems we plug into, and the name guests see when they arrive.
Dining and Events
Inside the casino, The Getaway Restaurant acts as the main food stop for guests. It is part of the casino floor environment rather than a separate stand-alone building, which keeps things simple if you want to grab a meal in the middle of a gaming session or take a short break.
Menu details are not listed in official public sources, but the restaurant appears regularly in travel write-ups and directory listings as a proper amenity, not just a snack bar or side note. For most guests, it fits naturally into a visit - a spot to sit, regroup, and then head back to the floor.
For groups, meetings or private events, we offer the Parlor Room. This space holds roughly 60 people and is used for small gatherings or business functions. There is no online booking tool tied to the room; reservations go directly through the property.
